CLUB BADGES
Chelsea's official badge has changed five times (with a few variations on each) in our 100+ year history.
The lion was derived from the Arms of Earl Cadogan who was president of the club and also held the title Viscount Chelsea. The staff is that of the Abbot of Westminster whose jurisdiction extended over Chelsea. The roses represent England and the footballs more obviously represent the game.
Chelsea did not start wearing badges on their shirts until 1960 making this the first one used in that way. For the first few seasons the full badge, complete with circle, was sewn onto the shirts.
However due to the complexity of the design several simplified variations were stitched into the shirts during the 60s and 70s, even though the full design complete with circle remained the official club badge. The cup triumphs of the early 70s were marked with the addition of an FA Cup symbol and stars.
The badge was used for almost 19 years and many fans will have started supporting Chelsea knowing no other form. While it served the club well, fans inundated the new board of directors with demands for a return to the old-style design to take Chelsea into a new era, especially ahead of the centenary year.
At the launch, Peter Kenyon said: "We are incredibly proud of Chelsea's heritage. The design of this new badge is based on the one from the 1950s and it was a conscious decision to do this.
"As we approach our centenary year, and the club embarks on a new and very exciting era, it is appropriate that we have a new identity that reflects our tradition and can represent us for the next 100 years."

GIANFRANCO ZOLA
Over seven seasons Gianfranco Zola captivated Chelsea supporters to the extent that he was twice made Player of the Year and in 2003 was voted as the club's greatest ever player, receiving 60% of the votes in a poll on Chelsea's official website.
He helped win four trophies and scored the winner in the 1998 European Cup Winners' Cup Final just seconds after coming on as substitute. In all Franco, scored 80 goals in 312 games, with many of them being spectacular efforts.
RAY WILKINS
Ray Wilkins joined Chelsea as an apprentice and it was apparent that with his talents he would soon break through into the first team. This he did in October 1973 aged 17.
Sadly for Wilkins this coincided with the breakup of the famous cup-winning team. As more experienced players left, Wilkins was made our youngest ever captain, just 18, but he could do little to prevent relegation. Two years later though, Ray had led a young team to promotion. He was the outstanding player in the team, his range and accuracy of passing created chance after chance for his team mates and he also contributed seven goals to the cause, many of them spectacular long-range efforts.
By now Wilkins was an England international, called up while still a Second Division player. He was becoming a celebrity away from the pitch and was undoubtedly the star of the team.
Still, even Ray's talents could not help a team that was being crippled by a lack of investment. He suffered his second relegation with the club in 1979 and was immediately transferred to Manchester United for £825,000.
After a long playing career, Wilkins moved into coaching and has twice been assistant manager at Chelsea, under Gianluca Vialli from 1999 to 2000, and from September 2008 to November 2010, under Luiz Felipe Scolari, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti.

CLIVE WALKER
Clive Walker was a pacy, exciting winger who, on his day could terrorise even the most experienced of defenders. That he never truly lived up to his early promise could perhaps be explained by the fact that he was playing in some of the worst teams in Chelsea history.
Clive made his debut at the tail end of the 1976/77 promotion season and broke into the first team the following year. He soon made a name for himself by scoring spectacular goals, in particular a brilliant effort in an FA Cup win over Liverpool.
Although Walker continued to impress he could do nothing to ward off relegation. As the team stagnated in the Second Division he was often the best talent on show. It was in the penultimate game of 1982/83 that Clive scored arguably the most important goal in the club's history. It was the only goal of the game against Bolton, when defeat would surely have seen us relegated to the Third Division.
At the start of the following season Walker was playing some of the best football of his time at Chelsea when he was injured, and with the team playing so well in his absence, failed to regain his place.
Clive was transferred to Sunderland in May 1984 and went on to play over 1,000 games in a career that lasted until he was 40.

BOBBY TAMBLING
Bobby Tambling made his Chelsea debut as a 17-year-old in February 1959 scoring the winner in a 3-2 victory over West Ham United. It was the first of his 202 goals, still a club record.
Over the next two seasons Tambling made a handful of further appearances, mostly as a winger and it wasn't until the departure of Jimmy Greaves in 1961 that his career as a goalscorer took off.
Tambling scored 22 goals in his first full campaign even though we were relegated. A year later he became the youngest captain to lead a team to promotion as he totalled 37 goals. Bobby continued to score freely throughout the 1960s as Chelsea threatened to challenge for major honours.
Sadly though, the 1965 League Cup was to be Tambling's only trophy success with Chelsea although he did score one of the goals in the Final win against Leicester City. Bobby did become the first player to score for Chelsea in an FA Cup Final but his goal in 1967 was only a consolation.
Earlier that season Tambling had scored five goals in 6-2 win at Aston Villa. No one has scored more for Chelsea in a league game.
As the 1960s came to end though, Tambling found his place under threat and he played just seven times in the 1969/70 season. He joined Crystal Palace that summer having missed out on a place in the FA Cup Final team

DAN PETRESCU
Dan Petrescu was the first overseas player to reach 100 appearances for Chelsea. He was signed from a Sheffield Wednesday in December 1995 as a wing-back as Glenn Hoddle looked to change the mentality of the team and introduce a more fluid and attractive style of play.
Petrescu, who had played in a European Cup Final for Steaua Bucharest and a World Cup quarter-final for Romania, was someone that Hoddle had been trying to buy for over a year. Dan was an intelligent footballer, completely at home with Hoddle's system and his career flourished at Chelsea.
Even after a change of manager and the subsequent switch to 4-4-2, Petrescu remained an integral part of the team. He was reinvented as a right-sided midfielder and if anything, his performances improved.
Dan played in the three victorious cup final sides of 1997 and 1998, although he was desperately unlucky to be sent off in the Cup Winners' Cup Final. Some of his best football for Chelsea was in the run to the Champions League quarter-finals in 1999/00. Sadly though, Dan fell out with the manager after a defeat at Manchester United in May that year and never played for the club again, not even making the substitutes' bench for the FA Cup Final that season.

PETER OSGOOD
Peter Osgood was the star among stars of the glamorous Chelsea side of the 1960s and 1970s. He joined as a junior and made his debut in a League Cup tie against Workington at the age of 17. Inevitably, he stole the headlines scoring twice. Over the next two years Ossie established himself in the first team until a broken leg interrupted his career.
JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink played for ten clubs over 18 seasons, scoring 245 goals in the process, but it is as a Chelsea player that his career peaked.
Jimmy was a club record signing when he joined form Atletico Madrid in 2000. The fee of £15m could be considered a bargain as he averaged nearly a goal every two games over the next four years.
He scored in the Charity Shield against Manchester United and finished the year with 26 goals. The following year he formed a prolific partnership with Eidur Gudjohnsen and together their goals helped us reach the FA Cup Final. Sadly though, Jimmy was injured in the league game prior to the final and was clearly unfit before eventually being substituted.
KERRY DIXON
Over nine seasons between 1983 and 1992, Kerry Dixon became one of the best loved players ever to appear for Chelsea.
PAT NEVIN
Pat Nevin was arguably the least well known of the clutch of summer signings made in 1983 as manager John Neal looked to rebuild the team that had nearly been relegated to the Third Division the season before. Signed from Scottish minnows Clyde for just £95,000 Nevin had to wait until the sixth game of the season to make his debut but then made an immediate impact.
RON HARRIS
Ron Harris stands alone in any list of Chelsea greats simply because he played more games for the club than any other individual, a grand total of 795.
As a junior he helped the club win the FA Youth Cup in 1961 and made his first-team debut in February 1962, aged just 17. He then featured in the last five games of the promotion-winning season of 1962/63, including a crucial 1-0 win at rivals Sunderland. For the next 18 years he was a virtual fixture in the team.
Ron won the League Cup in 1965 and then led the team out as captain for the four major finals we played between 1967 and 1972. His greatest moments were becoming the first Chelsea captain to lift the FA Cup and the first to lift a European trophy, the Cup Winners' Cup in 1971.
He remained at the club throughout the 1970s at a time when many of the star names were leaving. His loyalty shone through despite losing the captaincy to a young Ray Wilkins and the club suffering two relegations. He eventually left to join Brentford as player-coach in 1980.
Ron could play anywhere in defence and is best remembered for his tough-tackling and uncompromising style that earned him the nickname 'Chopper.' Even at a time when it seemed every team had a hard man, Ron stood out as a fierce competitor.

JIMMY GREAVES
With 132 goals in 169 games for Chelsea, Jimmy Greaves will probably never be surpassed as the most prolific goalscorer the club has ever seen.
KERRY DIXON
Over nine seasons between 1983 and 1992, Kerry Dixon became one of the best loved players ever to appear for Chelsea.
Kerry joined from Reading for £175,000 as the team was rebuilt following near relegation to the Third Division and he made an immediate impact scoring twice as promotion favourites were beaten 5-0 on the opening day. Kerry scored 34 goals that year as the club claimed the Second Division title.
In his first season in the top flight Kerry scored 36 goals to win the Golden Boot and take his Chelsea tally to 70 in just 101 games, earning a call up to the England squad in the process.
A serious muscle injury in January 1986 slowed Kerry's progress though and he was never the same player again. He almost left the club as the team was slowly broken up and relegation followed in 1988. Ironically, this helped to rekindle some of his earlier form and Kerry totalled 25 league goals as he won the Second Division title for the second time. Back in the First Division he scored 26 as we finished fifth, our highest position since 1970.
Two poor seasons followed though, and he joined Southampton in 1992, with 193 Chelsea goals to his name, tantalisingly just nine goals short of Bobby Tambling's record.

Ricardo Carvalho
Ricardo Carvalho arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2004, and went on to become an integral part of a squad which enjoyed one of the most successful periods in the club's history.
It soon became clear why Jose Mourinho - our manager at the time - had been so keen to bring his Portuguese compatriot to Stamford Bridge, as Carvalho, in combination with John Terry or William Gallas, formed a formidable defensive partnership which resulted in the Blues winning our first league title for 50 years in 2004/05, conceding just 15 goals along the way.
After a spell out of the side in 2005/06 he returned to the centre of a near impenetrable defence as we made it back-to-back league triumphs, even making a trademark break from the back to smash home as we sealed the championship with a 3-0 thumping of Manchester United at the Bridge.
The departure of William Gallas and injuries to Terry and goalkeeper Petr Cech brought even more responsibility on the Portuguese's shoulders during the next two campaigns, but he responded admirably and took the 2007/08 Players' Player of the Year award, before injuries hampered his involvement towards the end of his time at the club.
In total, Carvalho played 203+7 times for Chelsea, scoring 11 goals, and during his time at Stamford Bridge helped us to three Premier League titles, three FA Cups and two Carling Cups, before moving to Real Madrid in 2010.

Dennis Wise
Dennis Wise is the joint fifth highest appearance maker in Chelsea history and the second most successful captain.
Originally signed from Wimbledon as a wide man, Wise was soon converted to a central midfielder. Despite his slight stature, Dennis's tough tackling and combative nature made him ideal for the role. He took over the captaincy in 1993 and within a year was leading his team out in an FA Cup Final.
Dennis's leadership qualities were most apparent with the influx of foreign players in the late 1990s as he was the man who made sure that there were no divisions within the dressing room.
On the pitch Wise flourished as well, his game improving as the quality of his team mates did. He was a central figure as he lifted six trophies in four seasons.
Altogether Dennis made 445 Chelsea appearances and scored 76 goals, the most famous of which was in the San Siro with ten minutes to go. Wise would probably have broken the 500 game barrier if disciplinary problems hadn't caused him to miss so many matches. One season, 1998/99 he missed no fewer than 15 games through suspension.
Wise finally left the club in June 2001 as new manager Claudio Ranieri looked to lower the average age of the squad.

ROY BENTLEY
Roy Bentley is one of only two players to captain Chelsea to the League Championship. He is the joint third highest goalscorer in our history with 150 goals from his 367 appearances and was top scorer in each of his eight seasons at the club.
Yet his career at the club started slowly and he scored just three times in his first 15 games after joining from Newcastle United for £11,000 in January 1948.
It was only the following season when Roy began to play slightly deeper than most centre-forwards of the time, a tactic that unsettled defenders, that he found the net regularly. He scored 23 goals and earned the first of his 12 England caps.
Roy was outstanding in the Championship win both as a captain and a goalscorer, netting 21 times including twice in a crucial 4-3 win in a fractious match at eventual runners-up Wolverhampton Wanderers, and a hat-trick in another 4-3 victory, this time over Newcastle United.
After a disappointing season in which Chelsea never threatened to defend their title, Roy was allowed to leave the club as manager Ted Drake began to break up what was an ageing squad.
Roy signed for neighbours Fulham early in the 1956/57 season and later also played for QPR. He retired in 1962 and later managed Reading and Swansea. He is still a regular and extremely popular visitor to Stamford Bridge.

DIDIER DROGBA
Didier Drogba scored 157 goals in 341 appearances for Chelsea, making him the club's fourth all-time highest scorer. His 34 goals in European competition is a Chelsea record by 10 goals and his incredible nine strikes in nine cup finals contributed immensely to the most successful period in the club's history.
He won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two Carling Cups and, in the most dramatic and glorious of circumstances, the Champions League. He was named Chelsea's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year and won the Premier League Golden Boot twice.
During his Chelsea career he had a very good claim to be called the world's finest centre-forward.
Drogba made his Chelsea debut in August 2004 and as the Blues romped to back-to-back league titles in 2005 and 2006, breaking all manner of records along the way, he became an essential component in Jose Mourinho's well-oiled machine.
The arrival of Andriy Shevchenko in 2006 might have led to the Ivorian falling down the pecking order, but instead it brought out the best in him. He netted 33 times that season and in the final game of the campaign began his love affair with the new Wembley, scoring the winner against Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
The 2009/10 season, under Carlo Ancelotti, saw the Blues make history by winning the Premier League and FA Cup Double for the first time in our history, and Drogba scored 37 goals in all competitions, the second highest seasonal total in the club's history.
Strikers come in all shapes and sizes; from players who rely on their predatory instincts, to target men who hold the ball up and bring teammates into the game. The beauty of Drogba during his eight years at Chelsea was he ticked all the boxes.
In his final season it was Drogba with a diving header who began the remarkable second-leg fight back against Napoli in the Champions League and it was he who scored the home goal against Barcelona to give us a foothold in the semi-final. Having scored the goal that ultimately proved the winner in the FA Cup Final against Liverpool, his contribution to the Champions League final in Munich was truly the stuff of legends.

PETER BONETTI
Peter Bonetti is one of the truly legendary figures at Stamford Bridge. Nicknamed 'The Cat' for his astonishing reflexes and graceful agility, Bonetti played 729 times for the club making him the second highest appearance maker in our history.
Peter made his debut in March 1960 at the age of just 18, inevitably keeping a clean sheet - the first of 208 for the club. Four months later he had helped us to win the FA Youth Cup.
The Cat was a key figure in all of the successes of the 1960s and 1970s. His brilliant last-minute save gave us a vital win at Sunderland in the promotion season of 1963; he was inspired in the goalless draw at Leicester that won the 1965 League Cup, and possibly his greatest moment came in the 1970 FA Cup Final win over Leeds United. An early foul had left him limping heavily but he defied the injury to put in an outstanding display of goalkeeping. A year later he again saved one of his best performances for a final, this time the Cup Winners Cup replay win over Real Madrid.
Bonetti initially left the club in 1975 to move to the United States but returned within a year and his experience was crucial as a young and inexperienced team battled to promotion in 1977. Two years later, Peter retired although he did have brief spells at Dundee United and Woking. He was also employed by various clubs as a goalkeeping coach.

Chelsea vs Wigan Athletic
Preview Pertandingan: Chelsea vs Wigan Athletic
Jumlah Pemain yg fit bertambah
Jumlah Pemain Yang Fit Bertambah

Transfer Pemain Bulan Januari
Sebuah cerita dimuat di salah satu Koran Singapura yang menandakan bahwa juara S-League Tampines Rovers sangat berminat merekrut legenda Chelsea Eidur Gudjhonsen dimana mereka sedang memilih pemain untuk musim 2013.
Saya rasa ini musim transfer yang aneh.
Mencari sosok Boby Tambling
